In the high desert of Southwestern New Mexico, Silver City is not far from Mexico, not far from Arizona, and not far from Texas. El Paso is the closest major airport.
Agave Ridge Retreat is about 10 miles north of Silver City and several hundred feet higher in elevation. It is on Highway 15, on the way to the Gila Wilderness, the first area reserved as wilderness in the United States. The official wilderness is 35 miles beyond the property, but there are isolated spots within the Gila National Forest just beyond the driveway. We are at the end of the power and phone lines.
The attraction of Silver City is that it's out-of-the-way, but not too far from everything. The location is ideal most of the year - during some winter weather you need a 4-wheel drive vehicle.
